Good morning blogger family! Enjoy these sunrise pics of San Diego while I take a sip of coffee.
It's a beautiful Sunday morning and Sadie and I have just come back from our walk. The weather is beautiful, still a chill in the air but the skies are clear promising a warm afternoon.
Tell me what you had for breakfast! It's only 8:30 in the morning here. I decided to make some cinnamon toast which takes me back to my childhood. Guess you could say it's comfort food, anything's a comfort when your mom makes it for you. I had a friend that made her cinnamon spread this way...a bowl of softened butter, cinnamon and sugar to taste...mix till incorporated. The end result was a whipped mixture. It looked wierd but as soon as you spread it on your toast it melts to yumminess; and if you put it on English muffins, it will ooze into all the nooks and crannies!
Above is the end result of the cinnamon mixture served on whole wheat toast with a little unsweetened applesauce on the side. I got the little glass and its twin at a garage sale. The toast is waiting to be gobbled up on my favorite Franciscan plate in the Desert Rose pattern. It is my favorite everyday dinnerware and I have loved Desert Rose since before I can remember. Did you know this pattern has been around since the 1940s?
As much as I enjoy living in San Diego, America's Finest City, its roads leave something to be desired. I have come to this realization only after having my tires balanced! I somehow have managed to find every pot hole and uneven street there is here since taking care of the tires.
Ok, no potholes here, just a massive traffic jam as I leave San Diego Airport - see the Southwest jet making its approach on the left? I didn't realize there was a Veteran's Day parade downtown so got caught up in this lovely mess.
The niece came to visit me this week and we met for lunch at Seaport Village. Enjoy a few pics while I continue with my coffee and have some toast...
One last random thought....I think the state song I Love You California (a little boring) should be replaced by Low Rider! I love Low Rider, it's so SoCal, who doesn't love a car that jumps around!
The words are really easy to remember since there isn't much to it, just some fun music...

Hi Bonnie! I love cinnamon toast! I never thought about mixing it all together, though. We always had a shaker with cinnamon and sugar mixed and added it to the buttered bread before toasting it! I will have to try it your way. It looks as though you had fun with your niece. The sunrise pics are wonderful! And I am with you on the traffic! A trip to the airport here yields similar results. But I don't know too much about low riders. Here, it's all pick-up trucks!! lol Have a happy week and give Sadie a hug for me!...hugs...Debbie

ReplyDeleteWe were out all day long and I thought of you as I was out. What a fun Sunday you must of had! I love cinnamon toast...that is definitely something that takes me back to my childhood in L.A....my mom made it so well. How is Miss Sadie? Give her a hug for me? I sure wish we could meet, Bonnie...I could say that I miss you, without even having meet you! I had the best double bergomot earl grey tea this morning with a foaming milk....I thought of how nice it would be to sit and chat and exchange school stories. Ruben would make us laugh and then we would watch a great movie---your choice, on our flat screen. Some day, in my wildest of dreams!

Steak and eggs seasoned with cream cheese and chives
fresh pears
homemade biscuits
French toast casserole
No I didn't make all of it (as much as I would love to take the credit). We stayed at a B&B in Mt. Pleasant this past weekend and this was the yummy breakfast we were served:).
