They say it's all happening at the zoo...
Let's start with the monkeys and great apes
There's lots of great sculpture at the zoo
Nice shot of the flamingos if I do say so myself!
I love capybaras, they remind me of overgrown guinea pigs!
It's a beautiful day for sunning yourself...
...or for snoozing.
The ever popular panda exhibit
Baby panda Yun Zi meaning "son of cloud"
Here's mom Bai Yun
I know this looks wierd but this exhibit allows you to travel back in time to explore the ancestors of animals that roamed California more than 10,000 years ago.
The area starts out looking like a pond of black goo which eventually recedes to reveal amazing fossils. Kind of like the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles.
How would you like to find this fella in your back yard? Here kitty, kitty!
Hi Bonnie! I love this post! One of these days I am coming out to see you and your fabulous zoo will be on my to-do list! I am playing catch-up...too many baby bottles and diapers here in Grannyland! Loved the birthday post! Isn't that Ewan McGregor a cutie? I will always think of him in Moulin Rouge! I will add Sherlock Holmes to my movies-to-rent list since I didn't see it in the theatre. Hope you are having a great weekend...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteOH YEAHHH!!! I love this place, and those calybaras.....THEY ARE SOOOO CUTE! Oh Bonnie, thank you for this wonderful trip. I love those big polar bears the best! Our bears at the Como Zoo have been staying in Detroit until the new exhibit is done...they are opening up their doors with the two brothers, Bubba and Binky awaiting us in JUNE! I am off to Como....
ReplyDeleteBisous dearest! Anita

ReplyDeleteWaving to you from up North in Washington where girls are gearing up for Groovy Girls. Love to have you come on along!
Wow-it's all so beautiful! The animals are amazing! Thanks for sharing-it's not often one gets a glimpse of the San Diego zoo:).
ReplyDeleteBlessings,

I've enjoyed my trip to the zoo with you. We've visited many zoos since our San Diego days. It's still the best! Of course, now that the children are adults, they do zoos on their own. Are you going to take us to the Wild Animal Park?
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Bonnie-Thanks for both parts! I loved seeing the pandas and the polar bear. I love to watch them swim underneath---they are SOOOO huge!
ReplyDeleteOh it has been years since I have been to the San Diego Zoo... I would love to get out there this summer. I am only about 65 miles away, it would make a wonderful day trip.. Thank you for the tour Bonnie, it was great! and no walking..
